Riverdale Class of 2028 Supports Local Library
The Riverdale 4K class of 2028 hosted a very successful Old Fashioned Lemonade Stand last Friday. They presented their donations totaling $585.90 to Mrs. Wiederholt on the last day of summer school. They would like to thank everyone involved for their generous donations!
Come early and stay late for RC Thunderfest in Richland Center, Saturday, June 27, in Krouskop Park. The PiTri Challenge kicks off this event at 7:00 AM and 12 hours of free non-stop music to follow starting at noon. There will also be delicious food; the new Try Pie and Wow Ball events, the Caring Karts Churnin' Dust races, the Thunder Showers bounce houses and Bungy Jump. To end the night, bring family and friends to one of the very best fireworks displays in southwest Wisconsin which will begin around 9:30 PM. RC Thunderfest brings family and community together while celebrating our nation's independence.
WIAA State Baseball Coverage
In honor of both the Ithaca and River Valley Baseball teams earning their way to the WIAA State Baseball Tournament, WRCO will cover both games on Wednesday, June 17th. At 10:25 am Wednesday, tune in to WRCO FM 100.9 and WRCO AM 1450 as Ithaca takes on Ribb Lake. Then at 8:20 Wednesday evening, you can hear River Valley against Notre Dame on WRCO FM 100.9. Both games will be streamed on wrco.com. Thursday's games will also be covered on both WRCO AM and FM, as well as online. Stay tuned for those times as we hear the results from Wednesday. Congratulations to both Ithaca and River Valley on their accomplishments thus far!
A Weekend of Dairy Breakfasts
This is an important weekend for agriculture and the dairy industry in southwest Wisconsin. Four area counties will be welcoming people from near and far to participate in their annual dairy breakfasts. Two breakfasts will be served tomorrow (Saturday), while the other two will take place on Sunday.
2015 June Dairy Days/Rodeo Parade
The 2015 edition of June Dairy Days/Rodeo Parade will step off at 10:30 AM on Saturday morning in Richland Center's downtown. There is still time to submit an entry to be a part of the parade. You can download a parade entry form from the city's tourism website: richlandcentertourism.com.
A Weekend for Fishing
In addition to free fishing weekend in Wisconsin, this Saturday (June 6) will also be the annual Richland Center Parks & Recreation Department Fishing Derby. The 18th annual event will take place at the North Park Pond. It's intended to boys and girls ages 5-to-14. Registration will begin at 8:00 AM, with fishing set for 8:30 to 10:30 AM. The Fishing Derby is free to participate. Young anglers must be accompanied by an adult, and also must bring their own fishing pole, tackle, and bait. Awards will be presented starting at 10:30 in several fishing categories including the largest bass & pan fish, most fish caught, and the smallest fish caught. There will also be several other drawings throughout the morning, and a prize will be given to all who participate.
Sheriff Bindl's Statement on Body Recovered Near Port Andrew
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department wishes to express our sympathy to the family and friends of five year old Angela Girton. On Thursday evening, May 28th the body of a juvenile female believed to be that of Angela Girton was recovered from the Wisconsin River near Port Andrew.
Richland County Board Moves Forward on Pine Valley Project
The Richland County Board of Supervisors met last (Thurs) night and approved a motion that gives the authority to borrow up to $21.5-million for new construction and a partial remodel of Pine Valley Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. By state statute, the authority to borrow requires ¾ approval by elected supervisors. The final tally was 20 supervisors in favor, with one opposed. Gaylord Deets cast the lone dissenting vote.
Auditions for Mary Poppins to be Held
Community Players of Southwestern Wisconsin will conduct auditions for this summer's production of Mary Poppins next week. They will be held Tuesday through Thursday, May 26, 27, & 28th at 6:30 PM at the Richland County Performing Arts Center/City Auditorium in downtown Richland Center. In addition to the many on-stage roles, Community Players also needs “behind the scenes” players too. These players are crucial for the production process. Those interested in support positions – particularly individuals who have abilities in sewing, painting, carpentry, organizing, or advertising – are encouraged to attend the auditions or contact Community Players. Mary Poppins will be directed by Andrew Sharp. It will feature a 7-performance run over the course of two weekends this summer. Show dates are Friday through Sunday, July 31st to August 2nd; and Thursday to Sunday, August 6th through 9th at the Richland Center High School Auditorium. Both Sunday performances will be matinees. Again, those interested in on-stage or support roles for Mary Poppins should mark next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (May 26-28) at 6:30 PM on their calendar.
Richland County Waste Tire Collection
The Richland County Recycling Committee and Town & Country Sanitation will host a waste tire collection on Friday and Saturday, June 5 & 6, from 9:00 - Noon, at the County Highway Shop (120 Bowen Circle Drive, Richland Center). This collection is for everyone including farmers and businesses, and residents and businesses of surrounding counties. All tires will be accepted, but please remove rims prior to dropping off. Rates this year are $3.00 for car tires. Large quantities and truck and tractor tires will be $185 per ton. For questions, call Town and Country Sanitation at 375-5856.
