Richland Center Street Closure for Pipe Installation
Homeowners along and around Highway 80/Allison Park Drive may want to state making plans now so they aren't stuck as utility workers install pipe this week. Water Utility Superintendent Gayle Mathews said that on Wednesday (Sept 2), both the Sunset Lane and North Lane intersections – along with all driveways on the west side of Allison Park Drive from Sunset Lane going south to Eldon Storer Drive – will be blocked off for pipe installation. Work will begin at 7:00 AM Wednesday morning. Please note: Any vehicles that you may need for the day should be out of your driveway or out of North Lane prior to 7:00 AM on Wednesday.
Kiwanis Backpack Pick Up
For those that pre-registered for a backpack with supplies from the Kiwanis Backpack Program, today (Aug 24) is the only day to pick up your backpack. Pick up is available at the Phoenix Center from 9:00 - 6:00. Again, this is for those that pre-registered for backpacks.
Richland County Fair Update
Officials with the Richland County Fair announce that fair entry tags are NOT ready for pick-up yet. The announcement during our news and community calendar previously was incorrect. Fair tags will hopefully be available some time next week, but an announcement to that will be made soon.

Emergency Preparedness Summit
Could you fend for yourself for 72 hours after your utilities were compromised? Would you know what to do if your computer was hacked? Where are the best sources of information following a disaster? Those will be among several topics covered during a special Emergency Preparedness Summit coming up next Saturday in Richland Center.
The Community Players of Southwestern Wisconsin will be presenting the musical “Mary Poppins” Thursday through Sunday (August 6-9) at the Richland Center High School Auditorium. Featured in the performance will be many local actors, actresses, singers, dancers, and musicians.
Performance times will be at 7:00 PM with the exception of a 1:30 PM matinee performance on Sunday. Tickets are available at Ed's Family Foods and Gordy's Market in Richland Center, and will also be available at the door on performance dates. There will also be a $50 family package ticket available only at the door that will admit two adults and any number of children.
11th Annual WRCO Walk With GRACE Auction Recap
The 11th annual WRCO Walk With GRACE Radio Auction is in the books, and thanks to 305 enthusiastic bidders and dozens of generous auction donors, the 2015 auction proved to be the best yet. Thursday's auction total was $10,610 – the best 1-day fundraising total for the event ever. That proved to be the capstone of what was a remarkable story every day this week. The final total of the four days came to $33,190.
23rd Annual Muskets & Memories
The 23rd annual Muskets and Memories Civil War Era Weekend opens with registration today (Friday) in preparation for a busy weekend. The civil war encampment will be open to the public from 9:00 until 5:00 Saturday and 9:00 until 4:00 Sunday in Boscobel's Kronsage Park. The battle re-enactments will be at 1:00 Saturday and 1:30 Sunday. The Saturday battle will be a re-enactment of the Angle at Gettysburg from July 3, 1863 in which Medal of Honor recipient Alonzo Cushing was killed. An Alonzo Cushing Medal of Honor Memorial will take place on the battlefield at 12:30. The Medal of Honor was posthumously awarded to Cushing by President Obama this past September. Cushing was born in Wisconsin.
Siren System Check
This week will mark the first time the City of Richland Center will conduct a second monthly test of it's warning siren system. At noon on Wednesday (July 15) the sirens will be activated via a remote device to help ensure the warning system is operating correctly. This test will be a regular check of the sirens. It will be in addition to the one held regularly on the first Wednesday of the month. City officials say if you hear other sirens in the community, but notice the one closest to you is not working, you are asked to please contact City Hall or law enforcement right away.

Contractors are not permitted to place trees or brush outside of the landfill area. They must take the debris inside the landfill. The landfill will be open during between 8am and 3pm this week for City residents. Approved Townships may also use the landfill during regular open hours - Mondays & Wednesdays from 8am to 1pm and Saturdays from 8am to noon.
