2014 Property Tax Deadline
The deadline to pay 2014 taxes is approaching quickly. January 31st is the final due date for 2014 real estate and personal property taxes due and payable to your Township, Village, or City Treasurer at the address shown on the lower left portion of your tax bill. Your County Treasurer's office can not accept payments for the current 2014 taxes during the local treasurer's collection period through the end of the month. Richland County Treasurer, Julie Keller, reminds all homeowners that used their homes as their primary residence on January 1st, 2014 to check their tax bills to be sure a lottery credit was applied. "Lottery Credit" Claim Forms for the 2014 tax year can still be turned into your local treasurer until January 31st.

Deadline Approaches for Marketplace Enrollment
Those interested in enrolling in health insurance through the federal Health Insurance Marketplace face another looming deadline. This Thursday (January 15) is the application deadline for those who want coverage to begin February 1st. Richland County's enrollment assisters and local insurance experts will again be on hand to offer help with the enrollment process or to answer questions. The sessions will be each Tuesday from 1:30 until 7:00 PM at Richland County Health & Human Services. The program is free and open to anyone with questions, or are ready to enroll into health coverage through the federal Marketplace. Please note that if you need assistance with enrolling in Medicare, you can seek help through the Richland County Aging and Disability Resource Center at any time. It's also important to note that people can still enroll or update their plans after Thursday; however, the earliest health coverage would go into effect would then be March 1st.
