Friday, May 27

Friday, May 27th, is Poppy Day in Richland Center for the American Legion Auxiliary. There will be members around the city that day offering poppies that help serve veterans.

 

The 8th Annual Booney Tunes Art and Garage Sale will take place Friday and Saturday, May 27th and 28th, from 7:00-4:00 both days. The sale will take place four miles west of highway 80 in Gillingham. Proceeds will benefit the Richland County K-9 unit.

 

The Mennonite Christian School in Muscoda is holding a garage sale Friday and Saturday, May 27th and 28th. Friday's hours are from 8:00-5:00 and Saturday the sale will run from 8:00-2:00.

 

The Church of the Nazarene will hold a youth brat stand on Friday, May 27th, from 10:00-2:00 at the Nazarene Outreach Center parking lot.

 

Wisconsin Vietnam Vets Chapter 7 will hold a blood drive at Schmitt Woodland Hills on Friday, May 27th, from 10:00-2:00. Call 647-8931 to sign up for an appointment. Walk-ins will also be welcome.

 

The River Valley School Fair will be hosting a brat stand at Prem Meats on Friday and Saturday, May 27th and 28th, from 10:00-5:00. Proceeds from the brat stand will go to the school fair and the Endowment Fund.

 

The Avoca Fire Department will hold a 16 team ball tournament at Avoca Lakeside Park Friday through Sunday, May 27-29. Food and refreshments will be available at the concession stand. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a chicken barbecue will be held on Sunday from 11:00 until gone. All proceeds from the event will go to the Avoca Fire Department to purchase a washer and dryer.

 

Auditions for this summer's Community Players production, The Wizard of Oz, will be held Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Richland County Performing Arts Center City Auditorium. Those interested in stage parts or behind-the-scenes roles are encouraged to attend.

 

The Little Brown Church of Bear Valley is selling wooden ornaments with an etching of the Church, which was built in 1875, for $10. There are two different designs available. For more information call Joanne Jackson at 583-2259.

 

Applications for funding from Richland County United Givers for 2016 are now available online at rcunitedgivers.org. Applications are to be returned by June 15th.

 

Crossroads Youth Center will be closed Friday through Sunday in honor of the Memorial Day weekend.

 

Saturday, May 28

A silent auction to benefit a medical outreach to Africa will be held on Saturday, May 28th, at the Vernon County Fairgrounds from 8:00-10:00 in the Youth Activity Building. All proceeds from the silent auction will go toward the cost of the outreach which includes medical supplies.

 

The Brewer Public Library will hold a medieval themed Super Saturday event on Saturday, May 28th, from 10:30-12:30. Children are invited to come to the library to design their own castle. The program is free and open to youth of all ages. For more information, call the Brewer Public Library at 647-6444.

 

Sunday, May 29

A benefit euchre card party will be held on Sunday, May 29th in Hub City at the town hall. A pot luck will start off the event at noon. A silent auction and card tournament will follow at 1:00. The winners of the card tournament will take half of the pot. The event is to help the family of the late Ruth Anderson with medical and funeral expenses.

 

The Richland Center Community Ping Pong gathering will be held every Sunday at the Richland Center High School in the East Commons. The gathering will run from 3:30-6:30. All skill levels are welcome. Cost is $2 for adults, and $1 for students.

 

Monday, May 30

The Avoca American Legion will hold a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 30th, at 9:00 at the Avoca cemetery. The program will be held in the school gym if it rains.

 

Richland Center's Memorial Day Program will be held on Monday, May 30th, starting with a parade at 10:00. A Memorial Day service will be held at the Richland Center Cemetery following the parade. A Women's Relief Corps Water Service will follow the cemetery service at North Park near the tennis courts.

 

"Honoring Our Veterans," a Memorial Day program will be held on Monday, May 30th, at 10:00 at Bloom City Cemetery. Dale Schultz will be the guest speaker at the event.

 

Lone Rock will hold their Memorial Day program on Monday May 30th, at 10:00 at Battery Park, in case of bad weather program will be held at Lone Rock Community Hall. The American Legion Post 383 will lead the Memorial Day program, along with the River Valley Band and guest speakers, Carly Stanek, and Brianna Crotsenberg. Following the program, veterans, speakers and the band will travel to St. Malachy Cemetery in Clyde for a Memorial Day program at 10:45. A 10:30 Mass at St. Malachy Church will be held before the program and lunch will follow the program in Clyde.

 

The Blue River American Legion Post #443 will host the community's Memorial Day observance at 10:30 on Monday at the Blue River Community Building.

 

Muscoda's Memorial Day Service will be held on Monday, May 30th, at 10:30 at Muscoda's Cemetery. All veterans that are able to march are asked to meet at 10:15 at the gate of the cemetery to march to the flag pole location. In case of rain the service will be held at the high school. A pot luck will follow the ceremonies at Muscoda's Village Hall.

 

Tuesday, May 31

The Brewer Public Library is offering an adult yoga classes Tuesday, May 31st, from 10:00-11:00. All skills levels are welcome and no pre-registration is required.

 

On Tuesday, May 31st, Highway JJ from Highway 14 to Moss Hollow will be closed for culvert replacement. The road will be closed from 8:00 until approximately 1:00.

 

The Richland Community Food Pantry will be held on Tuesday, May 31st, from 4:00-5:30 at the Lighthouse Chapel.

 

Wednesday, June 1

Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin will hold a class titled, "The Caregiving Journey: Middle to Late Stage Dementia." The class will teach family members how to care for a loved one with dementia. The class will be held on Wednesday, June 1st, from 9:30-12:00 at the Community Services Building in Richland Center.

 

The Brewer Public Library will be host Everybody Storytime sessions every Wednesday and Friday from 10:30-11:00. Everybody Storytime is open to children ages 0-6. Children will have the opportunity to read books, sing songs, count, learn numbers and make a simple craft to take home.

 

Blue River United Methodist Church will hold a free community supper on Wednesday, June 1st, from 5:00-7:00 at the Blue River Community Building.

 

Hill Country Classic Power will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 1st, at 8:00 at the Phoenix Center.

 

Thursday, June 2

The Parkinson's Education/Support Group will meet Thursday, June 2nd, at 10:00 at the Richland Center Community Center. The topic of the meeting is "Are You Allowing Parkinson's to Keep You from Doing Things You Enjoy?"

 

The Richland Hospital will host a blood drive for the Blood Center of Wisconsin on Thursday, June 2nd, from 11:00-4:00. To sign up for an appointment contact Deanna Gochenaur at 647-6321 ext. 2413. Walk ins will also be welcome.

 

The Ancestors of Richland County Hills (ARCH) genealogy club and guests will meet Thursday, June 2nd, at 5:30. p.m. The meeting will include a trip to three cemeteries; Bovee, Mayfield, and Pine River. Those attending are asked to meet at the Brewer Public Library at 5:15 to car pool.

 

Saturday, June 4

As part of National NeighborWorks Week, Park Hotel Senior Citizen Apartments in downtown Richland Center will host an open house on Saturday, June 4th, from 9:00–12:00. There will be apartment tours and refreshments. Applications for residency will also be available.

 

Boscobel's Fourth Annual Smoke In the Valley event will be held on Saturday, June 4th, at the Antique Club Grounds. There will be a day show starting at 9:30, a garden tractor pull at noon, and a night show at 7:00. Tickets are $10.

 

Sunday, June 5

The 64th Annual Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Reedsburg will be held on Sunday, June 5th, from 7:00-12:00 at the Reedsburg Municipal Airport. Cost is $8 for adults and children under 12 are $4. The meal is all you can eat. A terminal building open house will be held from 8:00-2:00. Animals, sponsored by the Timbavati Wildlife Park of Wisconsin Dells will be held from 9:00-11:00.

 

Tuesday, June 7

Schmitt Woodland Hills will host a series of support group meeting titled, "When Mourning Dawns Takes Place" Tuesday's from June 7th through July 5th from 6:00-8:00 The group is intended for adults and prior registration is required. To register contact Home Health United Hospice at 732-8581.

 

Wednesday, June 8

Learn how to shop and eat better by joining a registered dietitian from the Richland Hospital for a tour of Gordy's Market on Wednesday, June 8th, at 6:00. The tour is free and no registration is required. Those looking to take part in the tour are asked to arrive at Gordy's at 6:00. For more information call 647-6321.

 

Thursday, June 9

The 57th Annual Wisconsin High School State Rodeo Finals will be held from Thursday, June 9th, through Sunday, June 12th, at the Richland County Fairgrounds. Friday night is "Wear Pink for Grace" at 7:30. The June Dairy Days & Rodeo Parade will be held on Saturday, June 11th, at 10:30, and Sunday Cowboy Church will be held at 8:30. Advance tickets can be purchased at Gordy's Market.

 

Friday, June 10th

Country at the Crossroads will be held from Friday, June 10th through Sunday, June 12th at Avoca Lakeside Park. There will be a bounce house, a youth baseball tournament, car show, flea market, canoe races, a youth baseball tournament, and music. Fireworks will be held on Saturday, at 10:00. St. Luke Church in Plain will hold their family style fish fry on Friday, June 10th, from 5:00-8:00 in the church hall. The hall is handicap accessible. Carry-outs will be available.

 

Monday, June 13

Grace Community Church Vacation Bible School will run from Monday, June 13th through Thursday, June 16th, from 9:00-12:00 each day. Children age 5 to 11 are welcome to attend. For more information call 647-2222.

 

Tuesday, June 14

The Richland Center Women's Connection June Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, June 14th, at 9:15 at the White House Banquet Facilities. Janna Johnson will be the guest vocalist/guitarist, and Wendy Larson will speak on "The Seasons of My Life." Cost is $10 and reservations are requested by calling 647-5491.

 

Partners of the Richland Hospital will hold their 9th annual salad luncheon on Tuesday, June 14th, from 11:00-1:00. Tickets at the door are $7.50. The luncheon will he held in the Richland Hospital lower level.

Wednesday, June 15

The Richland Hospital will hold a labor support class on Wednesday, June 15th, from 6:00-9:00 at the Richland Hospital.

 

Sunday July 3

The Viroqua Eagles Car Truck & Bike Show, sponsored by Auto Value Auto Parts, will be held on Sunday, July 3rd, at 8:00 rain or shine. The show is located at 216 S. Rock Ave. in Viroqua. There will be a bake sale, raffles, a 50/50 cash raffle, a large raffle, and a special raffle for kids ages 0-12. Food and beverages will be available. Money raised will go to fund local charities. The event is free and open to the public.

 

Lone Rock's 4th of July Celebration will take place on both Sunday and Monday, July 3rd and 4th. Sunday will feature a volleyball tournament starting at 11:00. There will also be bingo, kids baseball and the TKO Band. On Monday, a 5K water run will be held along with a tractor pull, a softball tournament, a horseshoe tournament, and much more. Fireworks will take place as dusk on Monday, July 4th. Everyone is welcome to attend.
