Thursday, July 28

The Richland County Highway Department would like to announce that the bridge on County Trunk T in Blue River is now open to the public.


The Boaz United Methodist Church will hold a Strawberry and Ice Cream Social, sponsored by the Boaz United Methodist Women, on Thursday, July 28th, from 4:30-7:30 at the church. Cost for adults is $8, kids 5-12 are $5 and children under 4 are free.


Schmitt Woodland Hills will host their annual Karaoke Concert fundraiser for the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance on Thursday, July 28th, at 7:00. There will be music, gift baskets raffled off, and root beer floats. The event will be held outside the entrance to the new health center. In case of inclement weather the event will be moved to the 2nd floor activity room. Entertainment will be provided by Monty Berger, Bruce Tessmer, Stephen Sailsbery, Cathi Bender, the SWH Trio, and Dave Brock.


This year's Walk With Grace luminary bags are available at Richland County Bank, Associated Bank, and All American Do-It Center. They are also available at the GRACE office on Wednesday from 10:00-2:00. Decorated bags with the completed form and a $5 donation for each name, can be returned to the GRACE office, your team captain or to the park the day of the walk. The luminary ceremony will be Friday, August 12th at 9:00.


Friday, July 29

Ash Creek and Willow Valley Church Vacation Bible School will be held Friday, July 29th in downtown Ithaca. The school will run from 9:00-12:00. Any child 3 years through 6 grade are welcome to attend. If you have any questions call Annette at 585-3362.


The Brewer Public Library in Richland Center hosts Everybody Storytime sessions every Wednesday and Friday from 10:30-11:00. Everybody Storytime is open to children ages six and under.


Richland Center Seventh-Day Adventist Church will hold a teen bible study titled, "Most Important Questions." Many core issues teens face will be discussed at this event. The study will run now through August 6th. The study will be held Monday, Friday and Saturday each week. Monday and Friday the study will start at 7:00 PM, and Saturday's study will start at 3:00.


The Board on Aging and Long Term Care is seeking volunteers to train as advocates for older adults living in nursing homes in the counties of La Crosse, Monroe, Jackson, Juneau, Adams, Richland, Crawford and Grant.  Those interested in the program can contact Karen Price at 608-789-6366 or toll free at 1-800-815-0015.


Saturday, July 30

The Plain Fire & EMS will hold a Fire Department Centennial Commemoration 3-Day Celebration at Plain Community Park from Saturday July 30th through Monday July 31st. There will be co-ed volleyball, co-ed kickball, water fights, a softball tournament, fireworks, and more.


Ocooch Mountain Humane Society will hold a Rummage Romp at the Richland Center Community Center Saturday, July 30th, from 7:00-12:00. There will be a "Pie Cafe" with home made whole pies available or by the slice. Proceeds will benefit the Ocooch Mountain Humane Society.


The Woman's Relief Corp Department of Wisconsin Conference will take place Saturday, July 30th, at the Ramada Inn White House Conference Center. Registration will be held from 9:30-10:00 with a business meeting to follow. All Womans's Relief Corp members are encouraged to attend. For more information call Bessie at 647 6658.


St. John's Lutheran Church Walk with GRACE Team will host a euchre tournament Saturday, July 30th, in the fellowship hall in Richland Center. Check in starts at 6:00 and play will begin at 6:30. Cost to play is a minimum $5 donation. Bring your nickles for bumps. Partners will be drawn upon arrival. Snacks & refreshments will be served. Prizes will also given out. Revival Fellowship presents "The Anointing of the Holy Spirit" on Sunday, July 31st, at 4:30 at the Richland County Performing Arts City Auditorium. Admission will be free.


Monday, August 1

A Richland County 4-H Exploring Camp, sponsored by the Richland County 4-H Junior Leaders, will be held on Monday, August 1st, from 8:30-12:00 at the  UW-Extension Office. The theme this year is "Olympics." Cost per camper is $10. The camp is open to second grade through fifth grade students. You do not have to be a 4-H member to participate.


Vacation Bible School will be held at the Lone Rock Community Congregational Church August 1st through August 5th, from 9:00-11:30 each day. Children 4-K through the 6th grade are invited to attend. Tuesday, August 2

The Richland County Republican Party meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 9th has been moved to Tuesday, August 2nd at 6:00. The meeting will be held at the Phoenix Center.


Educators from several Vernon and Crawford school districts will participate in a round table discussion in Viroqua Tuesday, August 2nd, from 6:30-9:30 at the Vernon County Democratic Party Headquarters. The discussion will cover how cuts in state school aid have affected schools. The program will open with Sen. Kathleen Vinehout, D-Alma, presenting her PowerPoint on the state budget, focusing on statistics showing how the cuts have pressed school boards into holding referendums to maintain programs, buildings and staff. The event is free and open to the public.


The Richland County American Legion Council will be meet Tuesday, August 2nd, at 7:30 at the American Legion Post 13 in Richland Center. All current American Legion members are encouraged to attend.


Wednesday, August 3

There will be a Referee Training clinic on the RCHS practice field Wednesday, August 3rd, from 7:45-10:00 to teach some basic referee skills. Participants will have the opportunity to referee the local Richland Area Rotary Youth Soccer program on Saturdays, September 10-October 29 . Referees are paid per game. The clinic is open to the community for kids 7th grade and up. Register by calling the RARYS reffing coordinator at 475-2960.


The Hillsboro Community Blood Drive will be held on Wednesday, August 3rd, from 10:00-4:00 at the Fireman's Community Center. To make an appointment call 1-800-733-2767.


Ash Creek United Methodist Church will host an Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, August 3rd, from 4:00-7:00. There will be home made ice cream at the event. Cost for the meal is $8 for adults, children 5-11 are $4.50 and kids under 5 are free. An extra scoop of ice cream will be $.50. For more information call Kay at 647-6046.


The Richland Center Kiwanis Club will hold their “Back-to-School Backpack and Supplies” Sign-Up Days, Wednesday, August 3rd and Saturday, August 6th at the Richland Center Community Center. Wednesday's hours will run from 5:30-7:30, and Saturday from 1:30-4:30. Families with youth in need of backpacks and supplies are asked to attend one of these sign-up days. The only backpacks and supplies given out by the Kiwanis Club will be through in-person sign-up at the Community Center on August 3rd or August 6th. Backpacks and supplies will be distributed prior to the start of the 2016-17 school year at a date and place to be determined.


Thursday, August 4

The Parkinson's Education/Support Group will meet on Thursday, August 4th, at 10:00 at the Richland Center Community Center. The topic is "What Can I Do to Move More Easily".


The Brewer Public Library will host Baby Storytime Thursday mornings at 10:30. Those attending will read books, sing, and have the opportunity to meet other area parents.


The Richland Hospital will hold a blood drive for the Blood Center of Wisconsin on Thursday, August 4th, from 11:00-4:00. Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are accepted. To make an appointment contact Deanna Gochenaur at 608-647-6321.


Five Points Women are host an ice cream social on Thursday, August 4th, from 4:00-7:00 at the church. Cost for adults is $8, children 6-12 are $4, and kids under 5 are free. The church is handicap accessible.


Saturday, August 6

Chapter 770 Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 32 Disabled American Veterans and Chapter 7 WI. Vietnam Veterans will have a brat fry at Walsh's Ace Hardware on Saturday and Sunday, August 6th and 7th, from 10:00-3:00 both days. The sale will raise money for signs proclaiming Richland Center the firs Purple Heart City in the nation. On Purple Heart Day, August 7th, all Purple Heart veterans will receive a free brat.


A Rock and Roll Reunion event will be held at the Woodman Village Park on Saturday, August 6th, at 10:30. The event will benefit the Wauzeka Area Veteran's Memorial. 30 musicians will perform music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Food and drinks will be served on the grounds but spectators are welcome to bring their own beverage and lawn chair for the day. For more information call 988-7446. The North Crawford Class of 1971 will hold their reunion at the event, and members of Wauzeka's Class of 1971 will attend as well.


Hidden Valley Community Church is holding a brat fry at Gordy's Market Saturday, August 6th, from 10:00-4:00.


Monday, August 8

A meeting scheduled to form a Lone Rock Veterans Memorial Committee will be held on Monday, August 8th. The meeting will be held at 10:00 at the Lone Rock Village Hall. Everyone is invited to attend and join the committee. For more information call 583-2615.

Richland Center Lions and Culvers of Richland Center will be host a Share Night on Tuesday, August 9th, from 4:00-8:00.


Saturday, August 13

A Charity Car, Truck, and Bike Show, Swap meet & Flea Market will be held on Saturday, August 13th, from 8:00-3:00 at the Starlite 14 Drive-In Theater. There will be classes for each type, trophies and money. Author Christopher Mark Heben will be at the event. All proceeded will go to the Green Beret Foundation & Military Order of the Purple Heart. Richland Center Women's Connection Breakfast Buffet, "The Three R's," will be held Tuesday, August 16th, at 9:15 at the White House Banquet Facilities. 6th Annual Holy Spirit Revival and Harvest will be held Tuesday, August 16th through Sunday, August 21st located next to the Bluffview Center of Hope Church at S7559 Highway 12, in North Freedom. nightly services will take place at 6:30, with praise and worship will run from 6:30-7:00. There will be a different speaker each night at 7:00. Sunday a revival service will be held at 1:00. At 3:30 there will be a water baptism followed by a meal at 4:00.
