Saturday, April 18

Register by April 27th for the The Civility Code: Teaching Young Children Social Skills and Community, hosted by UW-Extension Richland County. This free program for child care providers & early childhood teachers will teach new techniques and activities to promote social skills and community in your classroom or childcare setting. The program will be held on Thursday, April 30th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the UW-Extension Richland County. To register, call Chelsea Wunnicke, Family Living Agent at 608-647-6148. 

 

A Multiple Sclerosis/Ben Nondorf Scholarship Bowling Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, April 18th at Tower Junction in Montfort.  Shifts will be held at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm.  This event is to raise money for research for Multiple Sclerosis for Wisconsin residents and continuing donations to local hockey association and school district for students for music. A Pi Tri Readiness group will meet on Saturday, April 18th and every Saturday for the next 9 weeks at 1:00 pm at the Richland Center Community Center. The group will follow the Couch to 5K program to get you ready to run in the Pi Tri. There will also be meet ups for biking and kayaking.

 

St. Patrick's Church in Loreto will host a Pork Chop Supper on Saturday, April 18th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.  Mass will be held at 7:30 pm. Cost is $11.

 

The American Legion Auxiliary of Viola will host its 9th Annual Homemade Chicken n' Noodle Casserole Supper on Saturday, April 18th from 4:30 - 7:00 pm in the Legion Hall.  Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. Proceeds will fun Kickapoo Senior Scholarships.

 

Brass-R-Us will perform on Saturday, April 18th at 7:03 pm in the Wallace Student Center on the UW-Richland Campus. Vocal numbers include a solo by Stephen Foster and a Zambian folk song performed by the ensemble. Jason Troxel, a new addition to the Riverdale Music Department, will be joining the group.

 

Big Top Chautauqua returns to Richland Center on Saturday, April 18th at 7:30 pm at the Richland Center High School.  Michael Perry returns as well as music from Blue Canvas Orchestra.  Advance tickets are available for $13 at Ed's Family Foods, Burnstad's and Viroqua Food Co-op, or online at www.bigtop.org.  Tickets at the door are $15.

 

Knights of Columbus Bingo will take place on Saturday, April 18th at 7:30 pm at the Richland Community Center. All are welcome.

 

Register by April 18th to participate in and receive a shirt for the Upland Hills Health Nurse’s Fun Run/Walk set for Thursday, May 7th. Participate in a 5K run/walk, a 10K run or a kids run. There will be goodies, door prizes and awards after the run. Call 930-7112 to register.

 

Sunday, April 19

The Buena Vista Wonder Workers 4-H club will host an Ice Cream Social Luncheon on Sunday, April 19th from 11:00 - 1:00 at the Gotham Town Hall. 

 

The Pine River Snowmobilers will hold their final meeting of the season on Sunday, April 19th at 1:00 pm at the Hub Pub. Anyone who has not paid their dues can do so at this time.

 

Monday, April 20

The Rockbridge Meal site will be closed Monday, April 20th.

 

To participate in the Lone Rock Village-Wide Garage Sale on Friday and Saturday, April 24th and 25th, sign up at Royal Bank Lone Rock. Cost is $5 to be put on the map.

 

The 2015 Richland County Plat Books, sponsored by Richland County 4-H, have arrived and are available at the Richland County Extension Office, the Richland County Clerk’s Office at the Courthouse, The Frame Corner, Walsh's Ace, Boaz Country Store, and the Richland County Land Conservation Office.

 

Tuesday, April 21

The Lone Rock Community Library will host an Open House to welcome new library director, Martha Bauer, on Tuesday, April 21st from 11:00 - 7:00. Stop in, say hi and learn about the upcoming events for the library.

 

A free Diabetes Class on stress reduction will take place on Tuesday, April 21st from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at the Richland hospital. For more information, contact a Dietitian at 647-6321.

 

Richland County Health & Human Services will host a Free Enrollment Assistance Event on Tuesday, April 21st from 3:00 - 6:00 pm. The federal government has announced a one-time special health insurance enrollment period for individuals and families who were uninsured in 2014, now through April 30, 2015.

A Free Legal Clinic will be held on Tuesday, April 21st from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the Richland County Courthouse.

 

Wednesday, April 22

Animal House, the Ocooch Mountain Humane Society food stand, will serve its Red Hot Chicago Dogs, Wisconsin Brats, and Maxwell Street Polish dogs on Wednesday - Friday, April 22-24 at 9:30 am at Ed's Family Foods parking area.  

 

An American Red Cross Hillsboro Community Blood Drive will take place on Wednesday, April 22nd from 10:00 - 4:00 at the Hillsboro Firemen's Communty Center. To make an appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org

 

Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry will hold a Distribution in Gays Mills on Wednesday, April 22nd from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at the Gays Mills Community Building.

 

Doudna PTO will host a Culver's Share Night in Richland Center on Wednesday, April 22nd from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. 

 

The Richland Hospital will sponsor a Dietitian-Led Grocery Tour on Wednesday, April 22nd from 6:00 -7:00 pm at Burnstad's Market. Please pre-register by calling the Richland Hosptial at 647-6321. 

 

Labor Support classes at the Richland Hospital will begin on Wednesday, April 22nd. Classes will take place the 4th Wednesday every other month from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.

 

The Kickapoo Woods Cooperative will be hosting a free Beneficial Bats Lecture and Hike on Wednesday, April 22 at 7:00 pm at Hillsboro Brewing Company banquet room. Citizen-based Monitoring Programs seek volunteers to assist with monitoring and data collection for wildlife, plants, and various environmental parameters. Thursday, April 23

The Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin will host a Memory Cafe on Thursday, April 23rd from 9:30 - 11:30 am at the Richland Center Woodman Senior Center. For more information, contact Becky DeBuhr at 723-4288.

 

Friday, April 24

The Lone Rock Village-Wide Garage Sale will take place Friday and Saturday, April 24th and 25th. Maps are available at Royal Bank, DZ's and Shell.

 

Muscoda Day School will host a Smelt Feed on Friday, April 24, from 4:00 to 8:00 at 1061 Blue River Road in Muscoda. The cost of the meal is donations only.

 

The St. John’s Walk with GRACE teamwill sponsor an All-You-Can-Eat Pizza Buffet Fundraiser on Friday, April 24th from 4:30 - 7:30 pm at the Phoenix Center.  Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Silent auction items and raffle door prizes available. Enjoy music by Elite Harmony at 7:30 pm.

 

Saturday, April 25

The Woman's Relief Corp Department meeting will take place on Saturday, April 25th at 10:00 am, with lunch to follow, at the White House.

 

Grant County 4-H Horse & Pony project invite area youth to attend a Gymkhana Clinic on Saturday, April 25th from 10:00 - 3:00 at Mueller’s Indoor Arena in Montfort. The Annual Kickapoo Valley Reserve Spring Fling Benefit will take place on Saturday, April 25 the from 3:00 - 9:00 pm.  Activities will include: a plant identification walk, nature walk with binoculars, water quality activities, kite flying, natural play area, star gazing, music, silent auction, raffle and more. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve and the Richland Center - Santa Teresa Sister City Project. Cost is $10 and children 12 and under free. Sunday, April 26

The Boaz First Responders will host a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, April 26th from 8:00 - 1:00 at the Boaz Community Center.

 

Black Hawk United Methodist Church (Highway C between Plain and Sauk City) will host a Chicken and Dumpling Supper on Sunday, April 26th from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.

 

Monday, April 27

The Richland Hospital will hold free blood pressure checks on Monday, April 27th from Noon - 4:00 pm.

 

The Richland Center District Wide Art Show is open to the public April 27th-30th from 4:00-6:00 pm at RCHS in the West Commons and Main Hall. The closing reception will take place on May 1st from 4:00-7:00 pm.

Wednesday, April 29

The Ralph Nuzum Lecture Series: Passenger Pigeon will take place on Wednesday, April 29th at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. Explore the ecology and life history of the passenger pigeon and other extinct and endangered birds, current extinction crises, endangered species recovery and more from presenter Stanley Temple. Refreshments and socializing will begin at 6:30 pm, with the talk at 7:00.

 

Friday, May 1

St. Luke's Church in Plain will host it's Family Style Fish Fry on Friday, May 1st from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Carry-outs are available.

 

Saturday, May 2

The Town of Marshall will hold its Spring Clean-Up day on Saturday, May 2nd from 8:00 - Noon at the Town Hall Recycle Center. For more information, contact the Town Clerk at 475-1909.

 

Town Of Eagle Spring Clean-Up will take place on Saturdays, May 2 and 9 from 8:00 - Noon. No Batteries, Tires, used oil, or any kind chemicals will be accepted.  If you have any questions, please call Eagle Town Chairman, Marc Couey at 608-739-3286.

 

The Richland County Fair and Recycling Committee will hold a recycling collection on Saturday, May 2nd from 9:00 - Noon at the Richland County Fairgrounds.

 

Sunday, May 3

The Otter Creek Lutheran Church in Highland will host its Annual All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, May 3rd from 8:00 am - 12:30 pm. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12. 

 

Thursday, May 7

Anyone interested in becoming an EMT from the Lone Rock or surrounding area, is invited to attend the EMT meeting on Thursday, May 7th at 7:00 pm at the Lone Rock Fire Station.

 

Saturday, May 9

Motorsports Mayhem will take place on Saturday, May 9th at the Richland County Fairgrounds. Admission is $10, kids 12 and under are free. Events begin at 9:00 am with a Loud Pipe Contest for snowmobiles, ATVs and motorcycles, and will end the night with Truck and Car Drags starting at 10:00 pm. Other events include Pedal Pull, Demo Derby, Snowmobile and ATV drag races and truck pulls.

 

The Promise Walk for Preeclampsia will take place on Saturday, May 9th at Krouskop Park. Registration begins at 10:30 am with the Walk and 5K starting at 11:00.

 

Wednesday, May 13

Upland Hills Health of Dodgeville will host a Community Links Seminar - Become Dementia Aware, on Wednesday, May 13th from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. For more information, call 930-9835.

 

Friday, May 15

Schmitt Woodland Hills, along with Blood Centers of Wisconsin, will host a blood drive on Friday, May 15th from 10:00 - 2:00 in the activity room.
