Thursday, May 25

The Richland Center Parks & Grounds Department is looking for volunteers to place flags at veterans' graves on Thursday, May 25th. Volunteers should meet at 5:00 PM at the Cemetery Garage.

Disabled American Veterans and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary will meet on Thursday, May 25th, at 5:30 at the Richland Center American Legion.

The Frank O'Brien Avoca American Legion Post 335 will hold special veteran programs at area cemeteries on Thursday, May 25th. The programs will include a reading of the veterans buried at each cemetery, a rifle salute, and taps. Veterans will meet at 5:30 PM at the Avoca Community Building and leave at 5:45 sharp. At 6:00 the first program will begin at the North Otter Creek Cemetery. Post 335 will be at the Old Clyde Shop at 6:15, Fairview Cemetery at 6:30 and Pulaski at 7:00 before returning to Avoca. Families of veterans and the public are invited to attend any or all of the programs.

Richland County Farm Women will meet at the Richland Center Pizza Hut on Thursday, May 25th, at 6:30. The meeting will include planning for the 37th Richland County Dairy Breakfast. Everyone is invited to attend. For more information call Annette at 585-3362.

The Citizens of Crawford County will sponsor a free public Healthcare forum event in the community room at the Gays Mills Community Center on Thursday, May 25th at 7:00 PM. Healthcare professions will talk about the healthcare system currently in place versus an alternative model called Single Payer. There will also be a time for questions after the panel. Refreshments and snacks will be served.

The village of Muscoda will be spraying for mosquitos Thursday evening, May 25th, at 8:30.

Friday, May 26

The Richland Center American Legion will be collecting donations for this year's National Poppy Day on Friday, May 26th.

The 8th Annual Team Booney Tunes Art and Garage Sale will take place on Friday and Saturday, May 26th and 27th, from 7:00-4:00 both days at 21038 St. Hwy 56 in downtown Gillingham.

Schmitt Woodland Hills and the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 7 will hold a blood drive for the BloodCenter of Wisconsin on Friday, May 26th, from 10:00-2:00 in the second floor activity room at Schmitt Woodland Hills. To make an appointment call 647-8931. Walk-ins will also be welcome.

The Richland Area Senior Citizens will hold a food stand at the Bindl Tire & Auto parking lot on Friday, May 26th, from 10:00-3:00.

The Richland Masonic Lodge 66 will hold a brat stand at Gordy's Market on Friday, May 26th, from 10:00-4:00 or until gone. Money raised from the event will go toward local scholarships.

The River Valley School Fair will hold a brat stand at Prem Meats on Friday and Saturday, May 26th and 27th, from 10:00-5:00 both days. Deliveries will be available by calling Tim Johnson at 588-4545 or Shari Graffunder at 438-1452.

Chapter 770 Military Order of the Purple Heart and Chapter 7 Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans will hold a brat fry on Friday, May 26th, at Greeley Signs from 10:00-3:00. Proceeds will go toward buying signs that proclaim Richland Center as the first Purple Heart City.

The Avoca Fire Department Men's Slow Pitch Softball Tournament will take place from Friday, May 26th through Sunday, May 28th. The tournament begins Friday evening at 5:00. Saturday there will be a chicken BBQ from 11:00 until gone, and live music from 7:00-12:00 at Avoca Lakeside Park. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, with the drawing to take place Saturday night. The Briar "Double B" Brown Memorial Baseball Tournament will be held June 23rd-25th at the Boscobel Double Diamonds. There will be ten team limits for each competing group. The groups include one for 3rd and 4th grade students, one for grades 5th and 6th and one for grades 7th and 8th. Entry cost for the 3rd and 4th grade group and 5th and 6th grade group is $80 and $100 for the 7th and 8th grade group.. The deadline to sign up is May 27th. The Leslie J. Lee Auxiliary United 85 will hold a summer party on Sunday, June 11th, at the Sportsman's Supper Club. Drinks will be available at 6:00 and the meal will be served at 6:30. The Soldiers Grove Fire Department will hold a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 17th. Registration will start at 8:30 with the run to begin at 9:00 at the park in Soldiers Grove. Cost per person is $20 for those who register before June. Those who register before May 31st will also receive a t-shirt. Cost for registration in June will be $30 per person. Saturday, May 27

The Richland Center Landfill will be open on Saturday, May 27th. They will be closed on Monday, May 29th, for the Memorial Day holiday.

Pleasant Ridge Church will hold an open house on Saturday and Sunday, May 27th and 28th, at the church. Saturday's hours will run from 9:00-4:00 and Sunday the hours will run from 9:00-1:00. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The American Legion will hold a brat stand at Walsh's Ace in Richland Center on Saturday, May 27th, from 11:00-3:00. Proceeds from the event will go toward the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund.

The Richland Center Rodeo/June Dairy Days parade entry forms are now available and can be picked up at the City Clerk Treasurer's office. The parade will take place on Saturday, June 10th, at 10:30 AM. This year's theme will celebrate the 150th Frank Lloyd Wright Anniversary with "Dairy the Wright Way." Sunday, May 28

The United Church of Muscoda, Presbyterian will hold their Worship at the River event on Sunday, May 28th, at 9:30 AM at the Wisconsin River Boat Landing.

Brews and Blues Homebrew Competition will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, from 1:00-5:00 at the Barn Restaurant and Bar in Baraboo. Cost for a ticket is $30. Tickets are available at the Barn, Viney & Viney and Barabrew in Baraboo. Tickets at the door will be $35. All proceeds will go to the Wisconsin Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Monday, May 29

Richland Center's Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 29th. Those taking part in the parade are to line up at 9:30 with the parade to start at 10:00. The Chapter VII troop carrier will be available for Veterans who cannot march. A Memorial Day service will be held following the parade at the Richland Center Cemetery. After the service the Woman's Relief Corp will hold a Sea Memorial ceremony at the North Park bridge just past the tennis court. For more information call 604-5140.

St Malachy's Church in Clyde will hold a Memorial Day Mass on Monday, May 29th, at 10:00. The hymn sing will take place at 9:30. Anyone wishing to sing with the choir may do so. A cemetery program will follow the mass at 10:45 by the Lone Rock American Legion. Lunch will follow the program.

Blue River will hold a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 29th, at 10:30 at the Blue River Community Building.

A Memorial Day ceremony will take place at Resting Green Cemetery, Ironton, on Monday, May 29th at 11:00. The ceremony will honor all veterans. The Cazenovia American Legion Post will provide the honor guard and John Pearson will be the guest speaker. The ceremony will include the reading of the names of the veterans buried in the cemetery. 

Tuesday, May 30

The Richland Community Food Pantry will hold a distribution on Tuesday, May 30th, from 4:00-5:30 at the Light House Chapel.

The Harmonie's Hope JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) Team Tractor Ride will take place on Saturday, June 17th, at 9:00. The ride will begin at the Boaz Community Park. Cost per tractor is $25. There will also be wagons available for others to ride on. Cost per adult wagon rider is $20, and $11 per child wagon rider. Each Ticket also includes a meal, but additional meals may be purchased for $10 each. To register or sign-up call 608-604-4240. Tractors and wagons will travel 50 miles from Boaz to Soldiers Grove. There will also be door prizes at the event.

Wednesday, May 31

The Muscoda American Legion Post 85 will serve burgers in the park on Wednesday, May 31st, from 4:00-8:00 at Muscoda's Railroad Park.

Wisconsin Author and Professor Jerry Apps will give a presentation followed by a book signing on Wednesday, May 31st, from 6:30-8:30 in the Coppertop Theatre at UW-Richland. The event is free and open to the public.

The Soldiers Grove Fire Department 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, June 17th. The event will begin at Soldiers Grove Park with registration at 8:30 and the run to begin at 9:00. Cost for early registration is $20 and $30 to register the day of the event.

Thursday, June 1

The Brewer Public Library hosts baby storytime for infants 24 months and under every Thursday morning at 10:30. Those attending will read books, sing, and have the opportunity to meet other area parents.

The Ancestors of Richland County Hills (ARCH) genealogy club will meet Thursday, June 1st, at 5:30 at the Brewer Library History Room. Jane Adams will speak on Ghost Towns and Communities.

An Agility, Core and Efficiency (A.C.E) Camp will be held Monday through Thursday, June 12th through the 15th, and again from June 19th through the 22nd. The camp will be held at the Richland Center High School from 8:00-10:30 each day. Cost to attend the camp is $75 per person, $130 for 2 members from the same family and $250 for a 4 member group. Friday, June 2

Team Stacy/The Rack Pack GRACE team will be serving chicken BBQ on Friday, June 2nd, from 11:00 until sold out at the K&K Furniture parking lot. Proceeds from the event will go to GRACE.

Saturday, June 3

The 2017 Spring Fish Boil will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, from 4:00-8:00 at Kaul Community Park. Donations of $12 per person and $6 for kids 12 and under is suggested. Music will be provided by Ben Biser and The Whiskey River Band from 5:00-9:00.

Wednesday, June 7

The Blue River United Methodist Church will serve a free community supper on Wednesday, June 7th, from 5:00-6:30 at the Blue River Community Building.

Thursday, June 8

The Richland Hospital will hold a blood drive for the Blood Center of Wisconsin on Thursday, June 8th, from 11:00-4:00 in Pippin Hall at the hospital.To make an appointment call 647-6321 ext. 2413. Walk-ins will also be welcome.

Friday, June 9

St. Luke Church in Plain will host a family style fish fry on Friday, June 9th, from 5:00-8:00 at the church. Carry-outs will be available and the church is handicapped accessible.

Saturday, June 10

The 28th annual Sauk County Dairy Breakfast will be held on Saturday June 10th, from 7:00-11:00 at the Elsing family farm located at E10481 on Hwy 60, Sauk City. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for kids 7-12 years of age and free for children 6 and under. Volunteers for the Dairy Breakfast are still needed for both shifts, from 6:30-9:00 and from 9:00-11:30. The Woodman Center Button Club will hold a button buy event at the Phoenix Center on Saturday, June 10th, from 9:00-3:00. Vendors will be on hand to sell sewing buttons of all types. Sunday, June 11

The 37th Annual Richland County Dairy Breakfast will be held on Sunday, June 11th, from 7:00-1:00 at Durst-Larse Farms. Those attending are encouraged to park at the Richland Center High School parking lot and take the free shuttle bus to the farm. Cost for adults is $7, and $3 for kids 10 and under. The Pauls School Reunion will be held on Sunday, June 11th, in the Ash Creek United Methodist Church basement. A potluck will begin at 12:30  with a short program and time for reminiscing to follow.

Monday, June 12

The Richland County Children and Family Advocacy Council will hold a special town hall meeting on Monday, June 12th, at the UW-Richland Wallace Student Center. "Creating a Drug Free Community" will run from 6:30-8:00. For more information call 649-5968.

Partners of the Richland Hospital will hold a salad luncheon on Tuesday, June 13th, from 11:00-1:00 at Pippin Hall in the hospital. The Spring Green Community Church will hold a grief support group on Tuesday, June 13th, from 6:30-8:30 at the Spring Green Community Church. The group meets monthly the second Tuesday of each month.

The Richland Hospital Smart Recovery Support Group will meet on Tuesday, June 13th, from 7:00-8:30 The addiction support group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Richland Hospital. No pre-registration is required for the group. For more information call 647-6321.

The Richland County Deputy Sheriff's Association is holding a gun raffle. Tickets are $10 for one, $40 for five or $70 for 10 and are available for purchase at Driftless Area Hunters Outlet and Walsh's Ace Hardware in Richland Center, D&Z's One Stop in Lone Rock, and Turbos Bar and Grill in Hub City. Tickets may also be purchased from off duty officers. The drawing will take place August 19th at 5:00 PM. Proceeds from the raffle will go to the Richland County Special Response Team.

The Richland Hospital Foundation will sponsor Taste of the Hills on Saturday, June 17th, from 4:00-9:00 at Krouskop Park. Admission is free. Food tickets will be on sale at the event. Area restaurants and caterers will be at the event with samples of their food. Music will be provided by the Larry Busch Band and Brass-R-Us. There will also be a special lip sync contest from 7:00-8:00.
