Friday, August 29

The Mennonite School will host a smelt feed benefit Friday evening, August 29, from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at 1061 Blue River Road, Muscoda. Smelt, potato salad, baked beans and desserts will be served for a free will donation.

The Avoca Celebration to benefit the Rod and Gun Club will take place Friday - Sunday, August 29-31. Enjoy a Softball Tournament, Chicken BBQ and camping is available.

The beef stalls at the Richland County Fair have been assigned for this year's fair.

 

Saturday, August 30

The Hombre's Motorcycle Annual Memorial Ride benefiting "Smiles for a Child," will take place Saturday, August 30th at the Richland Center American Legion. Registration starts at 10:30 with a cost of $10 for a single rider and $15 for a couple. A Memorial Ceremony will take place at Noon at the American Legion Flag Park, with the ride to follow. Lunch will be provided at Duffy Slades upon conclusion of the ride.

 

Monday, September 1

Richland Center American Legion Auxiliary will meet on Monday, September 1st. Potluck will begin at 6:15, with the business meeting to follow. Badger Girls State reports will be given.

Tuesday, September 2

 

The Richland Museum & Visitor Center is holding a coloring contest for all ages September 2-30. Entries can be picked up at the depot, City Hall, or Brewer Library and returned to the depot Monday-Saturday from 10:00 - 3:00. Prizes for three age groups will be announced October 1.

 

 

Wednesday, September 3

The S.O.U.L. Kitchen will host a community meal on Wednesday, September 3rd from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Town and Country Presbyterian Church.

Look Good Feel Better is a program sponsored by the American Cancer Society to teach female cancer patients beauty techniques during chemotherapy and radiation treatment.  The next session will be at the Richland Hospital on Thursday September 4. Time is set by appointment. The program is free, however registration is required by 4:30 Wednesday, September 3. Call Rita at 647-6096.  

Hill Country Classic Power will have a "Get Ready for Show" meeting on Wednesday, September 3 at 8:00 pm at the Phoenix Center.

 

Thursday, September 4

The Parkinson's Education/Support Group will meet on Thursday, September 4th from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the Richland Community Center.  The speaker will be Philomena Poole, a certified geriatric nurse practioner at the Richland Medical Center, and will speak on things to do to help memory and thinking abilities.

American Legion Post 13 is selling raffle tickets for a Heil Furnace. The drawing will be held October 15, 2014. You do not need not be present to win. Tickets are $10.00 each. For information, contact Kevin Novy at 649-1325. Winner is responsible for installation costs.

 

Friday, September 5

St. Luke's Church of Plain will host its Family-Style Fish Fry on Friday, September 5th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Carry-outs are available.

 

Saturday, September 6

The Sugar Creek Bible Camp will take place Saturday, September 6th in Ferryville.  Registration for the 5K Trail Run/Walk will begin at 7:00 am with the run/walk starting at 8:00. The 40th Annual Spring Green Fire & EMS Dance will take place on Saturday, September 6th at the Spring Green Fire Station. A 5K Wet and Wild Fun Run/Walk will begin at 3:00 pm, Bean Bag Tournament from 4:00 - 7:00 at $10 each or $20 for a team, music by Redneck Victim from 4:30 - 7:00 and food will be served from 4:00 - 11:00. Dance music will be provided by Super Tuesday from 8:00 - Midnight.

The 2014 Kaul Community Park Fish Boil will take place on Saturday, September 6th from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Cost is $12 for adults, children 12 and under are $6.  There will be a 50/50 raffle from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and enjoy music from Whiskey River Band from 5:00 - 9:00 pm.

Maple Ridge Bible Church of Boscobel will host a free Hog Roast on Saturday, September 6th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. (43955 Cty Hwy E)

 

Sunday September 7

Everyone is invited to Cowboy Church led by Monty Berger at the Richland County Fair Sunday morning, September 7 at 9:30 in the Connection Building. Donations will be given to the Walk with Grace.

 

Monday, September 8

The Richland Hospital will offer free blood pressure checks on Monday, September 8th from Noon - 4:00 pm.

The Lone Rock Food Pantry will hold a distribution on Monday, September 8th from 5:00 - 6:00 pm at the Lone Rock Elementary.  The Pantry serves families whose children attend Lone Rock Elementary and citizens with a Lone Rock address.

Auditions for the farce “Caught in the Net,” by Ray Cooney, the University of Wisconsin-Richland Theatre fall play, will be  held 6:30  Monday and Tuesday evening, September 8 and 9 in the Coppertop Theatre on campus. Community actors and support people are welcome at auditions along with UW-Richland students. Production dates are planned for October 31-November 2. 

 

Tuesday, September 9

The Richland Center Women's Connection will host an "Unusual Creativity" Breakfast Buffet on Tuesday, September 16th at 9:15 am at the White House.  Dorothy Miller of Boscobel will entertain with music and Dorothy Lewis of Boscobel will show off her unusal jewelry and crafts that she makes.  Cost is $9. Thursday, September 11

The Partners of the Richland Hospital will host their Autumn Bloom Sale Thursday, September 11th from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Friday, September 12 from 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Registration is open for the Kickapoo Reserve Dam Challenge Triathalon, to take place on Saturday, October 4th.  This challenge is a 7-mile Paddle, 14-mile Pedal and 3-mile Run around the Kickapoo Valley Reserve.  To register or for more information, visit kvr.state.wi.us/damchallenge.

The Ancestors of Richland County Hills, (ARCH) genealogy club and guests will meet on Thursday. Sept. 11, at 5:30 at the Loyd Community Center. Mike Lee will talk about the Loyd community and area. Those desiring to car pool should meet at the Brewer Library at 5:00. Bring water and snacks. All are welcome.

 

Sunday, September 14

The Annual Fall Service at Little Brown Church in Bear Valley will take place on Sunday, September 14th at 10:30 am. Retired Chaplain Cecil Richardson will provide the message with special music from David and Meredith Moseley. A coffee social hour will follow the service on the lawn. The 84th Annual Viola Horse & Colt Show will take place Friday night and Saturday, September 19th and 20th. Enjoy Cash raffle, with a $5000 Grand Prize, a carnival, arts & crafts show, horse pull and more. The parade will take place at 1:00 on Saturday, and a free Country Music Dance from 6:00 - 10:00 pm.

Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University will begin Tuesday, September 23rd from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at Grace Community Church. Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin will host a Memory Café, a social gathering place where individuals with memory loss, mild cognitive impairment, early Alzheimer’s, or other dementias, can come together, will meet on Thursday, September 25th from 9:30 - 11:30 am at the Richland Center Woodman Senior Center.  Family and friends are encouraged to come. The Fennimore Doll and Toy Museum will be holding a tent sale on Sunday, September 28 on the grounds of the Doll and Toy Museum. Proceeds will go to replace siding on the museum.
