Friday, May 6

Boscobel will hold a city wide garage sale on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7.

 

Partners of the Richland Hospital will sponsor a Spring Fling Flower and Hanging Basket Sale on Friday, May 6th, from 7:00-3:00. The sale will be held at the Richland Hospital entrance.

 

The Riverdale FFA Plant Sale will be held on Friday, May 6th, from 8:00-4:00 and Saturday, May 7th, from 8:00-12:00 at the Riverdale High School Greenhouse. Flowers and vegetables will be available.
 

The Apostolic Faith Church Garage/Bake Sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 6th & 7th, from 8:00-5:00 at 2184 Hillside Drive. Saturday hot dogs and a drink will be available for $1. Money raised will go to help send children to Bible Camp.

 

The KCS US Cellular Grace Team will hold a Rummage Sale & Brat Stand on Friday, May 6th. The rummage sale will run from 8:00-3:00 and the brat stand will run from 10:00-2:00 outside of the KCS US Cellular building. All proceeds will go to Walk with Grace.

 

Church Women United will meet on Friday, May 6th, at 9:00 at Five Points Lutheran Church. All Church Women are welcome.

 

The Richland Baptist Temple will hold a pre-Mother's Day bake sale at the Richland County Bank on Friday, May 6th, from 9:00-2:00. Funds raised will be used to purchase toys, school supplies, and hygiene items to pack in Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. These boxes are delivered around the world at Christmas.

 

Richland Center High School Alumni Class of '68 will host a brat stand at Gordy's from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7. Proceeds will go towards a park shelter.

 

St. Luke Church in Plain will host a family style fish fry on Friday, May 6th, from 5:00-8:00. Carry-outs will be available by calling 546-2482.

 

Gays Mills Folk Festival Square Dance will take place on Friday, May 6, from 7:00-11:00 at the Gays Mills Community Building. Cost is $7. Children 12 and under are free.

 

Small raised beds are available for rent at Mill Pond Community Garden on Seminary Street. (at the site of the old community center). The garden is beginning year two and is a project of Richland FIT funded by the UW Partnership Program. Oversight of the garden is by community volunteers. Interested gardeners may pick up an application and pay a $10 fee at the Richland Center Parks and Grounds office. An orientation is required and mentoring for new gardeners is available. Applications for funding from Richland County United Givers for 2016 are now available online at rcunitedgivers.org. Applications are to be returned by June 15th.

 

Hybrid Redneck would like to offer volunteers a chance to raise money for a local charity of their choice. Each volunteer, can choose a charity and get a donation on their behalf. Hybrid Redneck guarantees $8 per hour worked to your charity of choice and to share a percent of the year end proceeds based on the number of hours worked. Their goal is to raise over $100,000 per year to support local charities. Saturday, May 7

The Ocooch Mountain Humane Society Adoption Centers will be closed Saturday, May 7th.

 

The spring clean up for the Village of Boaz and Dayton Township will be held on Saturday, May 7th, from 7:30-3:00 at the village park in Boaz.

 

The First Lutheran Church of Lone Rock will host a bake shop and breakfast on Saturday, May 7th, from 8:00-11:00.

 

Spring Clean Up is scheduled for the township of Eagle on Saturday, May 7th. The clean up will take place from 8:00-12:00.

 

The town of Willow Spring Clean Up will be held on Saturday, May 7th, from 8:00-12:00 at the town garage.

 

Boy Scout Troop 81 of Richland Center will be selling sheep compost again this spring to help raise money to send troop members to summer scout camp. The compost is being sold for $5 per 50 pound bag. Boy Scout Troop 81 will sell the sheep compost at Walsh's Ace in Richland Center four Saturdays including this Saturday, May 7, and again May 14, May 28 and June 4 from 9:00-12:00. The Scouts of Troop 81 and their leaders would like to sincerely thank the community for its continued support.

 

The town of Pulaski spring clean up will be held on Saturday, May 7th, from 9:00-1:00 at the town hall.

 

Vernon Trails will host the 12th Annual Viroqua Community Bike Ride on Saturday, May 7. Registration begins at 9:30 in the parking lot of Bluedog Cycles. The ride begins at 10:00 and is a six-mile loop around town. There will also be door prizes, pizza and more. The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend. The first 100 pre-registered riders receive a free t-shirt. Pre-register by visiting Bluedog Cycles in Viroqua or call 637-6993.

 

Missfit Dolls Roller Derby will host a food stand with brats and wraps on Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 - 2:00 or sold out, at Bindl Tire.

 

The Richland Center High School Rodeo Committee will hold a brat stand at Walsh's Ace on Saturday, May 7th at 10:00.

 

Southwest Tech will host an Auto, Tractor Show and Swap Meet on Saturday, May 7, from 10:00–3:00. This event is sponsored by the students in the Auto Collision Repair and Refinish, Auto Technician, and Ag Power and Equipment Technician programs. The Ag and Auto Clubs will also be providing a food stand. The event is free and open to the public. Vendor space is available for $10. The Brewer Public Library will be planting a pizza garden on Saturday, May 7th, from 10:30-12:30. Tomatoes, onions, peppers, and herbs will be planted in the raised beds outside the library. During the summer, youth are invited to help care for the garden. In the fall, the vegetables will be harvested and area youth will be invited to come to the library again to make homemade pizzas. All ages of youth are welcome at the event on Saturday, May 7th, from 10:30-12:30.

 

Hybrid Redneck will hold Motorsports Mayhem on Saturday, May 7th, starting at 11:00 at the Richland Center Fairgrounds. Cost is $10 for the day with kids 12 and under getting in free. A free shuttle bus service will pick up and drop off people from Alana Springs Campground and Richland Center hotels the day of the event.

 

The Gays Mills Folk Festival of Music and Dance will be held on Saturday, May 7, from 12:00-11:00 PM at Gays Mills Park. Live music will be provided by Charlie Parr, Red Tail Ring, and the Dumpy Jug Bumpers.

 

The Richland Center High School baseball team will host a pizza buffet at the Phoenix Center on Saturday, May 7th, from 1:00-4:00. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door on Saturday. A silent auction will be held as well as other fundraisers during the event.

 

The Kickapoo Valley Reserve Spring Fling Benefit will be held on Saturday, May 7, at 3:00. There will be family friendly activities, music and a meal of grilled brats and burgers with homemade salads and desserts. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve and the Richland Center-Santa Teresa Sister City Project. Cost to the event is $10 per person and kids 12 and under get in free.

 

Sunday, May 8

The Boaz First Responders will hold a Pancake Breakfast, Sunday, May 8th, from 8:00-1:00 at the Boaz Community Building. Pancakes, sausage, apple sauce, yogurt, cheese, milk, juice, and coffee will be served. All are welcome to attend.

 

A Mother's Day Brunch & Silent Auction Fundraiser will take place on Sunday, May 8th, from 10:30-2:30 at the Hillsboro Firemen's Community Center. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for children, and kids under 6 are free. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Hillsboro Elementary Cub Packs & Wonewoc Elementary Wolf Packs programs.

 

The Spring Green Knights of Columbus will hold a Chicken Barbecue at St. John's Catholic Church on Sunday, May 8th, from 11:00-2:00. You can sit down and eat or there will also be a drive through. Feeding our Cubs and Drive to Feed Kids will hold a Mother's Day Brunch and Silent Auction Fundraiser on Sunday, May 8th, from 1:30-2:30 at the Hillsboro Fireman's Community Center. The Richland Center Community Ping Pong gathering will be held every Sunday at the Richland Center High School in the East Commons. The gathering will run from 3:30-6:30. All skill levels are welcome. Cost is $2 for adults, and $1 for students.

 

Monday, May 9

Shirley Braithwaite will play piano at the Richland Center Community and Senior Center on Monday, May 9th, from 12:00-1:00.

 

The Richland Hospital will hold free blood pressure checks on Monday, May 9th, from 12:00-4:00.

 

Tuesday, May 10

Join a registered dietitian from the Richland Hospital for a tour of Gordy's Market to help learn to shop and eat better. The tour will be held on Tuesday, May 10th, from 2:00-3:00. Free No registration required. Those interested are to meet at Gordy's in the Richland Square.

 

The Richland Community Food Pantry will be held on Tuesday, May 10th, from 4:00-5:30 at the Lighthouse Chapel.

 

The Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin will hold a class titled, "Dementia Caregiving: Communication Tips and Strategies," on Tuesday, May 10th, from 5:30-6:30 at the Richland Hospital in Pippin 3. The VFW Post 2267 will meet Tuesday, May 10th, at the American Legion Post 13 with a meal at 6:30 served by the Auxiliary. A business meeting will follow. All current VFW members or those eligible to join are welcomed to attend.

 

Thursday, May 12

Schmitt Woodland Hills will be holding a pie contest on Thursday, May 12th. Community members are welcome to submit their pies by 11:00 Thursday morning. Judging will be at 1:00, and a pie tasting for the public and the announcement of the winners will follow at 2:00.

 

Friday, May 13

The Hillsboro Scholarship Committee is sponsoring a 5K Color Walk/Run on Saturday, June 11th, at 9:30. Participants must pre-register by May 13, 2016 by visiting shop.schoolathon.org/183950. Registration won't be accepted on the day of the race. The registration fee is $30 and includes a t-shirt, bag, admission to Cesky Den and a color packet for the finish line celebration. The Woman's Relief Corp W. H. Bennett Unit #71 will hold a meeting on Friday, May 13th, starting at 11:00 at 115 Pine Street Mobile Home Park near the Fairgrounds. A luncheon will follow the meeting. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass. For more information call 647-6658.

 

Saturday, May 14

The town of Buena Vista will hold its Spring Clean Up on Saturday, May 14, from 8:00-12:00. Dumpsters will be located at Town & Country's Sanitation site in Lock Rock, and on the north side of hwy 14 across from the Shell Station. 1 pickup or trailer load per household will be accepted. Extra pickup loads will be $20 each. Items that won't be accepted include: paint, chemicals, tires, electronics, shingles and regular garbage.

 

The Westby Syttende Mai Bike Tour 2016 will take place on Saturday, May 14, starting at 8:00. All routes are paved on backroads. Routes will be marked plus maps will be available at registration. Event will take place rain or shine. Registration is at the Logan Mill Lodge in Westby, by visiting Active.com or by calling Bluedog Cycles at 637-6993. Receive a goodie bag with adult registration. Registration opens at 7:30. Support and rest stops end at 3:00. A celebration in downtown Westby will follow the bike tour with food, activities and crafts.

The 36th Annual Yuba Smelt Feed will be held on Saturday, May 14th, from 4:00-8:00 at the Yuba Community Center. Cost for adults is $10 and children under 8 are $5. There will also be a raffle ticket drawing at the event.

 

Sunday, May 15

The Lone Rock Fire Department Fly-In and Drive-In Breakfast will be held on Sunday, May 15th, from 7:00-12:00 at the Lone Rock Tri-County Airport. Proceeds will go to the Lone Rock Fire Department.

 

The Corey Bobb Memorial Run/Walk will be held on Sunday, May 15th, at 9:00 at Riverside Park in Muscoda. Entry fee is a free will donation, with money being raised to help provide scholarships for area youth involved in the performing arts.

 

Monday, May 16

The River Valley High School Music Department will present the final band and choir concert of the school year on Monday, May 16, at 7:00 at the high school.

 

Tuesday, May 17

The Richland Center Women's Connection Breakfast Buffet, titled "Ingredients for Happiness," will be held on Tuesday, May 17th, at 9:15 at the White House. Cost is $10. Wednesday, May 18

A free community meal will be held on Wednesday, May 18th, at 5:30 at the Nazarene Outreach Center in Richland Center.

Saturday, May 21

The second annual Tromp & Chomp will be held on Saturday, May 21, at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. The event will offer 8 and a half mile marathon. Racers will receive a race shirt and a post-race meal. Proceeds from this event benefit the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Education and Events Program. The Harmonie's Hope JDRF Team Tractor Ride will take place on Saturday, May 21st, at Boaz Community Park, at 9:00. Cost per person is $25 per tractor, $20 per adult wagon rider, $11 per child wagon rider, and all include a meal. For an additional meal the cost is $10. Tractors will travel for 50 miles. They will start in Boaz and travel to Honkers in Muscoda for a meal before heading back to Boaz. Tractors must have a slow moving vehicle sign displayed, must have excellent brakes, and must be able to travel at least 13 mph. To register call Darlene at 604-4240.

 

Sunday, May 22

The River Valley High School Class of 2016 Baccalaureate Ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 22nd, at 7:00 in the new high school gymnasium. All family members and friends of the seniors are invited to attend.

 

Monday, May 23

The Friendship Quilt Guild meets the 4th Monday of every month. Their next meeting will be held at Schmitt Woodland Hills in the lower activity room on Monday, May 23rd, at 7:00.

 

Wednesday, May 25

The St. John's Walk With GRACE team will be hosting a share night at Culver's in Richland Center on Wednesday, May 25th, from 4:00-8:00. Proceeds will benefit GRACE.

 

Saturday, May 28

The Brewer Public Library will hold a medieval themed Super Saturday event on Saturday, May 28th, from 10:30-12:30. Children are invited to come to the library to design their own castle. Wednesday, June 1

Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin will hold a class titled, "The Caregiving Journey: Middle to Late Stage Dementia." The class will teach family members how to care for a loved one with dementia. The class will be held on Wednesday, June 1st, from 9:30-12:00 at the Community Services Building in Richland Center.

 

Thursday, June 2

The Richland Hospital will host a blood drive for the Blood Center of Wisconsin on Thursday, June 2nd, from 11:00-4:00. To sign up for an appointment contact Deanna Gochenaur at 647-6321 ext. 2413. Walk ins will also be welcome.

 

Sunday, June 5

The 64th Annual Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Reedsburg will be held on Sunday, June 5th, from 7:00-12:00 at the Reedsburg Municipal Airport. Cost is $8 for adults and children under 12 are $4. The meal is all you can eat. A terminal building open house will be held from 8:00-2:00. Animals, sponsored by the Timbavati Wildlife Park of Wisconsin Dells will be held from 9:00-11:00.
