Thursday, July 31

The Richland Hospital will hold a Blood Drive with the Blood Center of Wisconsin on Thursday, July 31st from 11:00 - 4:00 in Pippin Hall of the hospital.  To make an appointment, contact Deanna Gochenaur at 647-6321 ext. 2413. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

Richland County Fair premium books can be picked up at local financial institutions, the Brewer Public Library, the UW Extension Office and the Richland County Fair Office. Deadline for entries is August 1.

 

Friday, August 1

The 22nd Annual Muskets & Memories Civil War Era Reenactment and GAR Heritage Encampment  will take place Friday - Sunday,August 1 -3 at Kronshage Park in Boscobel. Over 1000 civilian and military re-enactors will portray life and events of 150 years ago. For more information visit musketsandmemories.net.

The Riverdale Communities Education Foundation will host a Golf Tournament Fundraiser on Saturday, August 2nd at the Hickory Grove Golf Course.  Registration begins at 9:00 am with tee time at 10:00 am. Saturday, August 2

The Richland Hospital will hold a Childbirth Preparation Class on Saturday, August 2nd from 8:30 - 4:30. For more information, contact the Birth Center at 647-6321.

The Richland County Fair Junior Horse Show will be held on Saturday, August 2 at the Richland County Fairgrounds.  The day will begin at 9:00 am with halter classes and riding classes will begin at 1:00 pm.

The Nascar Fans United Walk With GRACE team will hold a Brat and Pork Chop Sandwich Stand on Saturday, August 2nd from 10:00 - 2:00 at Ed's Family Foods.

The Ithaca Cheerleaders will host a brat stand and bake sale on Saturday, August 2nd from 10:00 - 3:00 at Inspired Innovations.

The 2nd Annual Show and Shine Car Show will take place on Saturday, August 2nd from 11:00 - 3:00 at Grandview Family Worship. Cars will begin parking at 9:30 am. Entry fee is a free will donation. Sunday, August 3

The 92nd annual Braithwaite reunion will take place on Sunday, August 3rd at 1:00 pm at the American Legion Clubroom.  Please bring a dish to pass and your own table service.

 

Monday, August 4

The Lone Rock Congregational Church will hold Vacation Bible School August 11-15 from 9:00 - 11:30 am for ages 4 years to 6th grade.  A $5 donation per child is appreciated and registration is required. To register, contact Joanne Jackson at 583-2259.

 

Tuesday, August 5

Park Street Christian Church Vacation Bible School will take place Tuesday - Thursday, August 5 - 7. Pre-school- 5th graders and adults will be from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and Junior High, Senior High and College age will be from 8:00 - 9:30 pm. This year's theme is "Jesus is Our Rock." The S.O.U.L. Kitchen will host a community meal on Wednesday, August 6th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Town and Country Presbyterian Church.

Walk With GRACE Luminary Bags are available at Ed's Family Foods, Richland County Bank, Associated Bank, and the GRACE Office on Wednesday from 10:00 - 2:00. Decorated bags with the $5.00 donation for each bag may be turned in at the Survivor's Reception/Captain's Night on Wednesday, August 6th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at The Phoenix Center, or after 9:00 am at the park the day of the Walk. Thursday, August 7

The Parkinson's Education/Support Group will meet on Thursday, August 7th from 10:00-11:00 am at the Richland Center Community Center.
Karn Schauf from the Aging and Disability Resource Center will speak on "Taking Care of Caregivers" - services available in the area to assist the caregiver. Persons with Parkinson's disease, family members, caregivers and all interested persons are encouraged to attend.

The Ancestors of Richland Co. Hills (ARCH) genealogy club and guests will meet on Thursday, August 7th at 5:30 pm at the Brewer Library History Room. Jerry Schell will be presenting on cheese making, cheese factories and cheese inspecting. All are welcome.

Pro-Build Richland Center supports Walk With Grace with raffle tickets to win a children’s playhouse through August 7th. Tickets are $10 each or 5 for $40 and available at Burnstads, Center Café, Walsh’s Ace, Ed’s Family Foods and Pro-Build. All proceeds go to GRACE.

 

Friday, August 8

As part of the Crawford County Fair in Gays Mills, the Prairie  Rod and Gun Club will host a free Kids’ Casting Contest on Sunday, August 10 at 1:00 pm.  There will be three divisions:  boys and girls ages 5 and under, 6 to 10, and 11 to 15.  Prizes will be given to each registrant, with additional prizes to the top scorers in the 6 to 15 age categories.  For more information, call Jerry Cummings at 608-326-2342.

Registration is open for the Kickapoo Reserve Dam Challenge Triathalon, to take place on Saturday, October 4th.  This challenge is a 7-mile Paddle, 14-mile Pedal and 3-mile Run around the Kickapoo Valley Reserve.  To register or for more information, visit kvr.state.wi.us/damchallenge.

 

Wednesday, August 13

Richland County Health and Human Services-Public Health will host an Immunization Clinic on Wednesday, August 13 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the Community Services Building.  This clinic will offer all routine childhood vaccinations to children covered by BadgerCare or who do not have vaccine coverage.

 

Friday, August 15

The 51st Annual Badger Team and Gas Engine Show will take place Friday - Sunday, August 15-17 from 8:00 - 5:00 each day, at S3347 Sand Road in Baraboo.  Admission is $8 and children under 12 are free.  Various events will take place throughout the weekend. Baraboo High School Soccer presents Soccerfest 2014 on Saturday, August 16th at Steinhorst Park. Registration opens at 8:30 am and events start at 9:00. Registration includes lunch and a tshirt. RC Lions Club will host a Brat Stand on Saturday, August 23rd from 11:00 - 2:00 at Ed's Family Foods. Proceeds will help in the funding of Children's Vision Programs, eye glass assistance, park shelters, Little Free Libraries and much more.  They will also be accepting old eyeglasses for recycling.
