Richland School Board April 22nd Meeting:

Bennie Green will remain president of the Richland School Board of Education for another year, following a special meeting on Monday, April 22nd.

The office of President was the only position which had a race. Two board members were interested in being seated as president, Bennie Green and Paul Corcoran. Green defeated Corcoran five to two to maintain the presidency. The remaining officers for 2019-20 are: Vice President, Grant Worthington; Clerk, Karee Gander; Treasurer, Brady Doudna; and Acting Clerk, Jane Williams.

Board Appointments included: Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) Delegate, Karee Gander; WASB Alternate, Bennie Green; and Richland School District Foundation Representative, Toni McCarville.

The Richland School Board also approved the Richland Observer as the official newspaper; the Local Government Investment Pool for an alternate investment location for 2019-20; Kirk Strang, with Strang, Patterson, Renning, Lewis, and Lacy, S.C. as the legal firm for most of the legal matters and to empower the district administrator to use other firms as needed for special purposes; the board meeting schedule was approved for 2019-20; and a voluntary vision plan with VSP as a 100% employee payroll option beginning July 1, 2019.

In other business, the board also approved to waive Policy 252 - School events on Wednesdays, Sundays, and Holidays to allow the RCHS Business Enterprise students and foreign exchange students to schedule their field trip to Chicago on Wednesday, May 8, returning around 10:00 PM.
